Travels in Eden

Made between 1982 and 1985, in the years following the birth of my first child, this series of collages explores the complex and frightening world a child enters at birth. The use of the panorama format suggests an all-embracing “natural” landscape, but these environments are as tense and uncomfortable as they are nurturing.

Original C-prints—made from copy negatives of the original collages—are approximately 5 feet wide.
